In the Presence of Greatness

Throughout my time at the Grand Canyon, I have had the pleasure of being in the presence of greatness.  When I look out in the canyon I see a beautiful sky that seems closer than ever, trails that are never ending, and pure serenity. Giving my service to the Grand Canyon has been an honor. During our time of service we were able to connect with people from all walks of life while also changing the experience of those who are visiting the Canyon. This was one of the best aspects of our service because we were actually able to alleviate frustrations and turn around perspectives about the park.

In our leisure time, we had the opportunity to receive a “backstage pass” to museums throughout the park. The Collections Museum was one of the best. In this Museum there were collections of ancient artifacts. Colleen, who was our guide showed us a ten thousand year old piece of fur from a six foot giant sloth. This sloth fur was still intact and still had its color. Colleen also showed us more, and was so passionate about every artifact she showed us. I will never forget this opportunity and I hope that I can apply what I learned to my life.
